Moving, A Roof & Microloans

Happy May everyone.

THANK YOU -- you collectively raised $1,700 for the Roof for Baby Rochelle and her family. With the extra budget, we hired construction professionals and expanded the roof on the back of the house to create an enclosed kitchen and covered porch area. There will be more to come on this but see below for progress.

Grown-up Rochelle leaves for Nicaragua again on May 31 – June 13 to work with a small group from the USA who will assist with outreach and the evening English program at Casa Mariposa. The classes are running efficiently and the eco-toilets are finished. It’s heartwarming to see the teachers utilize the high-tech tools to enhance lesson plans and even host an occasional movie night (in English) which is a real treat for our students.

One of the biggest announcements we have this month is TJ’s job territory has changed which required us to move on May 15 to Inman, South Carolina. Our long-term goal has always been for TJ to retire early so we can both serve in ministry full time. This is one step towards that goal. We are also thrilled to be closer to our parents & family in the Philadelphia region. Inman is about 1/2 -way between Cocoa Beach & Philly so we hope to see many of you when we’re in the USA.

As a result of all of this, we are asking for your prayers for discernment, health and travel protection for TJ, Rochelle and their family. Of course, please pray Nicaragua too. Erlin, Hilder, Priscilla and Leydis are a priceless Team holding everything together during this big transition time.

MICROLOANS

Meet Yomar! Yomar started as one of three women-owned businesses selling vegan food and deserts at the farmers market on Saturdays. She continued to expand her menu and has now opened Healthy Kitchen Comedor in Santa Cruz. In April, she applied for a new loan to replace the kitchen roof, purchase a new blender and gas stove/oven combo. Yomar also completed our English for Restaurants Workshop in January and last summer’s Living on Purpose workshop. She’s an inspiration and says THANK YOU to God and for your support for this opportunity.

COLLEGE SCHOLAR PROGRAM

Rochelle will be interviewing more candidates in June as some of you have committed to become a monthly Sponsor to a deserving college student. If you have any questions about this program, please email Rochelle to schedule a call before she leaves on May 31.
