One Body Global =All of Us Connected As One

Support One Body Global & Make An Immediate & Lasting Impact In People’s Lives.

The goal of One Body Global Ministries (OBGM) is to build community, by reducing barriers and putting an end to the cycle of poverty in Ometepe and Carazo, Nicaragua.

We focus our efforts on community development, specifically on access to education, vocation, and health-oriented programs that engage the community and enable them to reach higher standards of living, independently.

Be an integral part of efforts to uplift entire communities, and be a positive force of change in the global community.

It is through these efforts as the Body of Christ that we are all connected.

Ometepe & Carazo

Ometepe is an island formed by two volcanoes rising out of Lake Nicaragua in the Republic of Nicaragua. The island has a population of around 45,000 people, most of whom live from hand to mouth and rely mainly on cash-crop farming. Most families earn less than $2 a day, which is far below other communities on mainland Nicaragua.

Carazo is a mountainous farming community south of Managua, in mainland Nicaragua. Farmers harvest their fruit and then travel to distant cities to sell their goods. Those who don’t rely on farming either work in clothing factories or make the long commute into the city each day hoping to find work. Most laborers earn less than $5 a day, which is far below what is needed to live healthy lives.

The need is great, which makes your act of service or donation even greater.

We focus our efforts on individuals

who are passionate about their communities and community development,  and we work to preserve their culture, faith, and attitude of perseverance, in this special place.

One Body Global provides access for these future community leaders to learn a skill, start a career,  or open a local business.

The goal of OBGM is to create self-motivated and self-sustaining community leaders. We support the opportunities and systems that allow the indigenous people to become self-reliant and successful in creating their own means of guidance and support for future generations.

We are Rochelle and TJ Scott, founders of One Body Global Ministries.

In 2009 we traveled to Ometepe for our first mission trip which sparked a passion to serve this fresh water lake island that is so isolated from the rest of Nicaragua. We knew we had been called to do more, and so One Body Global Ministries was born. We began by answering this calling through developing relationships within the local community to identify what needs we could initially serve.

We started as an English program, nutrition program, assistance with college scholarships, primary education school supplies and medical assistance.

We have a long term commitment to this community and have even built a home in Ometepe using our own funds. In fact we cover all of our personal and travel expenses in our work with the Ministry as we feel strongly that all public donations should go directly to the people we walk alongside.

We are now focusing our efforts on community development, specifically on education, vocation and health-oriented programs that engage the community to become self-sustainable.

We are honored to have you join us to become part of the global community.

WAYS TO GET INVOLVED

From donating your time on zoom to help with English pronunciation in our weekly classes to traveling to Ometepe to assist in community projects, or providing funds to support ongoing efforts, there are lots of ways to make a difference.

When you give, you are creating life-changing opportunities. Imagine the feeling of being able to do something today with your extra resources that can change the course of someone’s entire life. These individuals then become a part of the movement to uplift the entire community.
